Catholicism is no longer the world’s largest religion. A Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano reported that Islam is in fact the leading religion world wide. Catholics are currently 17.4 percent of the world’s population and Muslims make up 19.2 percent. This increase is allegedly attributed to Muslims increasing the number of family members while Catholics have developed a more conservative approach to family planning. But Christianity is still the most popular religion with a 33 percent worldwide percentage.

The democratic primary race continues to operate on drama overload as both Clinton and Obama prepare for the April 22nd primary in Pennsylvania. Obama filled a stadium with twenty thousand people at Penn State University’s campus lawn yesterday. This appearance marks his continued faith in younger voters, to whom he surprisingly declared that Hilary should not drop out of the primary race. He believes he can win the nomination regardless of whether Clinton wins the very important Pennsylvania primary. However, Democratic party leaders want Clinton to throw in the towel so that they can focus on beating the Republicans this November. But Clinton is not backing down in her fight to win the Democratic nomination.
All the recent hoopla about race has sparked another very related debate; affirmative action. Michigan’s ban on affirmative action inspired five states who adamantly sought out hundreds of thousands of signatures in a petition to present to their respective state governments. Colorado has a current total of 128,744 signatures while Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska are obtaining signatures. The nation’s most well known supporter of the affirmative action, Ward Connely (who happens to be a conservative black male), donated $1.5 to eliminate affirmative action. He also publicly endorsed Barack Obama only to be dismissed by Obama regarding his views on affirmative action.
