To Cut or Not to Cut

So you want a new look. You’re tired of that long hair and every so often you see a divato cut working it with a short hair cut and you wish you had enough guts to go through with it yourself. Here are tips for you ladies who have been thinking about cutting your hair.

When making the decision of whether or not to do the damn thing, there are usually two initial questions. How do I know if a short hair style will fit me?Can I ever gain the guts to go all the way?

In regards to  short hair, it is very complimenting on women with slender faces, and small features. However, if you don’t have those features you should first experiment by  wearing your hair in a ponytail. If you like the way your face looks with your hair back, chances are you will like the way a short hair cut fits you.

Next start out cut by cut, inch by inch!

If you are too scared to go all the way, start with a bob cut, just below the ears. This  will get you used to having hair off your face. Then you can gradually keep cutting your hair shorter and shorter, without being traumatized by the drastic change. If you don’t like how your hair looks with the bob cut, you can grow your hair back out to the length you’re most comfortable with or put a weave in (that usually solves all my hair issues).

Find a good hair dresser

If you see a woman with a fabulous short hair style don’t be shy,  ask her where she goes to get her hair done. By complimenting her  on how wonderful her hair looks she will probably be more willing to give you the contact number you are looking for.

Also, try looking through hair magazines for beauty salons in your area and contact them. Remember price should not be an issue when cutting your hair. This is not the time to look for a deal or hookup. You will get what you pay for! end

This is one woman’s testimonial on what made her cut her hair and why she loves it.

girlBefore I cut my hair it was to my shoulders, it wasw thick and full. So why did I part with that great mane of hair? Well, I cut my hair for a change that was long overdue. I felt old, drab, and ordinary with the long hair. You couldn't tell my doobie from the next. Thus, I needed my look to have a punch of personality. So, I went under the knife. Yes, it's like surgery. You have to consult with your stylist regarding the style - the same way you would a doctor; pick a hairdo; and cry many tears when you see your hair dropping to the floor.  Just know the tears will be healed after you see your new look.

I can honestly say I was pleased with the results. It felt good to run my fingers through my very short cropped hair.  However, even though I was satisfied with my look I received comments from my male acquaintances like "Why'd you cut your hair?". "Are we going to the same barber?". Although my female friends loved it, my reaction to the comments from a lot of the males was anger and discomfort.  I asked myself: “ Will I get a date?"."'Do I look too boyish or aggressive for male attention?"."'Am I less attractive now?”. I was redefining myself. Therefore, it wasn't anyone's responsibility but my own to confirm my inner and outer beauty.

Hence, no one else's opinion mattered and no one was going to sprinkle any dust on my shine, even if it was someone that stood at 6'1, with a smile that could make you melt and muscles that could make you crumble. It was all about me. So, three years and so many dates later with the same short hair which has gone through much transformation and metamorphosis between flips, spikes, colors and more (there's so much fun you can have with short hair), I love this length so much that sometimes it's hard to imagine parting with this short sweetness.
