So
often we lack the rest our body needs to have a normal, functional
day. Sometimes we wake up late only after a few hours of
sleep, rush to get ready, and still arrive at our destination behind
schedule. In the process, we missed breakfast and a chance
to collect our thoughts for the day’s work and to top it
off the entire day is pure misery. We do not train our minds
to relax and prepare for a good night’s rest nor a day of
work so we end up with a less than successful day.
I have created
a few rituals to practice before going to bed and waking up in
the morning that will give you the energy you need to face another
day.
BEDTIME
POTION
-
Pop in your favorite soothing CD. My personal favorite is
Corrine Bailey Rae's new album.
-
Take a long bath and for even better experience add drops of soothing
oils or your favorite scents.
-
Clear your mind of all of the negative things that happened throughout
the day and instead focus on what you accomplished and what you
hope to accomplish tomorrow.
After
the bath, transform your bedroom into a sleeper’s
galore.
-
Light candles or dim the lights.
-
If you live on higher floors, open the windows so you can get for
fresh and cool air into the room. Those of you who live on lower
floors, you can use your AC. Just set it to a temperature that best
suits you.
-
Read your favorite book.
-
Say a prayer of thanks.
-
Just before drifting off, cut the lights out and enjoy a good night’s
rest.
Eight to nine
hours later….
ANOTHER
DAY’S JOURNEY
After
getting the rest your body needed, it is time to start a new day. One
of the best rituals to practice is getting up early enough to take
care of everything before heading out.
- Never jump out
of bed. Give yourself time to wake up completely and gain
your equilibrium.
- Try doing some
stretches or even a quick workout (for the gym-heads).
- Take a shower
and eat a good and fulfilling breakfast.
- Gather everything
you need for the day and be on your way.
The key to a successful
day is being mentally ready for it. The lack of sleep and continuous
stress about previous events will not give your mind time to
rest, and therefore neither your body. So tonight when you
get home from a long day, create the sleeper’s galore to
prepare yourself for another day’s journey. |
