When I was a little girl, I thought I was simply difficult to understand. Then life, with its usual lack of tact, made it fairly clear I was the black sheep.
I did not understand the world, and the world did not seem particularly invested in understanding me either. Maybe it has always frightened me a little, which would explain why I have always loved what exists beyond it.
I wanted something I had never been given: a place that did not ask me to become smaller before I was allowed to belong, a world where women could finally recognise each other.
I did not find that place, so I started building it.
